Léon R. van der Linden
Léon R. van der Linden, born in 1953 in Utrecht, studied for a while biology at the State University of Utrecht, but in 1990 decided to be a fulltime wildlife artist. In the same year his work was selected for Birds in Art. In 1992, 1993 and this year he received another invitation to participate. The painting style of Van der Linden is realistic.
Hyacinth Macaw (Anodorhynchus hyacinthinus)
Of the four blue macaws we know, the Hyacinth Macaw is the largest of all. It is also the most common of the very endangered blue macaws of which one is extinct and of the famous Spix Macaw just a few number lives in captivity. This painting -"Just Blue"- was selected for Birds in Art 2009.
